Rene Babi, RBA International

Founder and President

  

Mr. Babi has over 35 years of extensive international experience in business processes, banking systems, information systems technologies and methodologies, and organizational development.  He has been described as an inventor and visionary.

    

Prior to founding RBA International, Rene served as Worldwide Service Systems Manager, Group Marketing Systems Manager, and IT Director for Hewlett Packard, IT Director for Mentor Graphics, and VP and CIO for Sequent Computer (now IBM). He has been the keynote speaker at numerous technology conferences by Apple, Hewlett Packard, Council of Logistics Management, Airfreight Forwarders, and recently the 2006 MVNO Conference in Las Vegas and the Alternative Payments Summit in Texas.

    

Since founding RBA International, Mr. Babi has founded and helped form numerous companies here and abroad. He has been a technology and business consultant for emerging and established companies, including such companies such as Visa, Nike, and Hewlett Packard.

    

Mr. Babi and his team have won prestigious awards for their innovations and strategic contributions. Foremost among these is the “MCI Entrepreneur of the Year Award”, and the recent nomination for the Oscards 2006.

  

Brent Bowen, Inside Contactless

With over 20 years in the payment industry Brent Bowen has both issuing and acquiring payment industry experience. Brent holds a B.S. from Indiana University. Throughout his career he has worked in payment processing, transaction security, POS Terminal solutions, Merchant Services, Card Manufacturing and fulfillment (both chip & conventional plastics) and most recently with INSIDE Contactless, a chip provider focused on Contactless payments and Near Field Communications.

  

Kelly Buday, Firethorn a Qualcomm company

Director of Marketing

  

Kelly Buday joined Firethorn in July 2006 and serves as Director of Marketing, managing all areas of the company’s marketing communications, public and analyst relations, partner marketing programs, and trade shows and special events as well as all consumer adoption and retention programs.

  

Buday brings to her role fifteen years of experience in financial services, telecommunications, Internet technology, and business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing. Previously, Buday served as Director of Marketing for BroadSource, a leading provider of telecom expense management software. Prior to BroadSource, Buday served as head of Marketing for Magnet Communications, a provider of Internet-based cash management software for financial institutions. Magnet was acquired by Digital Insight (now Intuit) in 2004. Buday has deep experience in the financial services industry and has led marketing teams at several of the industry’s top solutions providers, including Digital Insight, S1 and nFront, which was acquired by Digital Insight in 2000.  Additionally, Buday gained consumer bank marketing experience early on working with Memphis-based National Commerce Bank Services. 

  

Buday earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Marketing from Texas A&M University.  She is active in several national marketing and public relations organizations, including Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the American Marketing Association (AMA).

  

Rusty Carpenter, CPNI

General Manager

  

Rusty Carpenter, General Manager of the U.S., is responsible for all U.S. activity including sales, strategic partnerships, and business development opportunities for CPNI’s mobile payments and mobile banking solutions.  Mr. Carpenter is a veteran speaker in the financial services industry with extensive expertise in the payments space.  A senior executive with a history of managing all aspects of multinational organizations, Mr. Carpenter most recently served as the Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at Viewpointe.  Carpenter also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Certegy Corporation and Vice President and General Manager of American Express Consulting in addition to senior leadership positions at Andersen Worldwide and Dun & Bradstreet. 

  

Chito Collins, Mobilians International, Inc.

Chito has over 25 years computer industry experience that includes direct sales and channel business development to Fortune 100+ companies such as IBM, HP, Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, Oracle and Microsoft.  She spent the last 13 years in the eCommerce/Internet payments industry, working for leading edge technology providers such as CyberCash, CyberSource and IBM’s Internet Division, where she was the worldwide internet payments executive from 1997 to 2000.

  

Her expertise in eCommerce/Internet payments contributed to signed strategic partnership contracts with key players such as storefront providers, Independent Sales Organizations, Financial Institutions and web hosting/integrators in the electronic commerce industry. She signed a multi-million internet transaction contract with Yahoo PSI at CyberSource Corporation and was responsible for a $2.3M eCommerce software contract at IBM Software Group. In 2000, she was involved in a wireless software startup venture that expanded her knowledge of the industry and is now an active payments consultant in the Silicon Valley.  Recently, at KINCON 2008, Chito was a panel speaker in a Micropayment Session, where she shared her expertise in a new, exciting emerging alternative payment option, “online to mobile phone bill”, offered by Mobilians International.

  

Daniel Csok, aKos Technology

Founder and CEO

  

Daniel Csoka serves as Founder and CEO of aKos Technology Corporation, a company that provides the transaction management gateway to allow seamless yet cost-effective, convenient and secure mobile remittance services via its patent-pending mobile to merchant to cash approach that marries wireless and banking infrastructures. He is a recognized wireless expert and frequent industry speaker and has chaired, moderated or spoken at numerous wireless conferences and forums worldwide. Csoka has been quoted on various issues related to wireless communications in many industry related business publications including, among others, Billing & OSS World, Fierce Wireless, RCR Wireless, Wireless Week, Wireless Review, the Chicago Tribune, Payments News and Business Week.

  

Most recently, Csoka helped launch a start-up, TDVision Systems, where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was responsible for selling and marketing TDVision’s technology in each of its global markets, forging relationships with partners and securing investment capital. Csoka laid the foundation for TDVision’s foray into the Consumer Electronics, Digital Entertainment, Military and Medical markets; secured partners from the design, distribution and development arenas and prepared the company for its next round of private equity financing. 

  

Previously, Csoka was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VoiceCue Technologies, Inc., a telecommunications software applications company that specializes in real time processing and billing providing enhanced services to wireless carriers. At VoiceCue he was responsible for closing the single largest sale in the company’s history. Csoka led the initiative to diversify its product line into the financial arena of Electronic Transactions Management by leveraging the company’s core competency of a “Stored Value Manager” into card-based stored value applications. In this new division, he secured a contract with the 7th largest Financial Transaction Processor in the world to launch Mexico's first national loyalty program “Dinero Extra” to over 10 million customers. 

  

Csoka graduated from Northwestern University and is a Rhodes Scholar Finalist and National Merit Finalist.  In his spare time he enjoys an active career as a concert violinist appearing as the concertmaster of various orchestras including the Detroit Civic Symphony Orchestra. Csoka has performed throughout North America and Europe for such luminaries as President Bush, President Reagan, and Pope John Paul II.

  

Mehul Desai, C-SAM

Chief Operating Officer

  

Mehul Desai is the Chief Operating Officer at C-SAM, Inc., a solution provider for Secure Transactions and Mobile Commerce Applications.  C-SAM (www.c-sam.com) has developed a patented secure mobile transaction platform, customized for various payment and non-payment services, which the company markets to telcos, banks, merchants and system integrators in the Americas, Japan, India, China, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Middle-East & Africa.

  

Mr. Desai is responsible for C-SAM’s operations worldwide, with offices in the US, UK, Japan, India, and China, and with over fourteen years of experience in the areas of intellectual property, technology & product development, business development, strategy and international operations.  Prior to joining C-SAM, Mr. Desai headed up operations for MTI Software Services, managing the company’s software services groups in the US and India, and has held various Engineering/R&D positions working primarily in the areas of telecommunication, distributed systems and power electronics.  Mr. Desai holds a B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering and a M.S. in Engineering Management.

  

Adam Dolby, VASCO Data Security

Adam is the Director of Business Development at VASCO Data Security and has been with the company for over 5 years.  He is a frequent speaker at several national and regional financial and security conferences and events, such as NY Cash Exchange (’07), TMANE (’04 - ’06), AFP (’05), Windy City (’06), VISA Canada (’05) and user conferences at S1, Politzer & HANEY and ITI.  Prior to joining VASCO, Adam was the VP of eBanking at Berkshire Bank, a regional bank in Western, MA.  At the bank, Adam managed the Internet banking, cash management, voice response, ATM network, ACH origination, and all corporate banking relationships for roughly 7 years.

  

Mike Feliciano, Tyfone

SVP Business Development

  

Mike Feliciano leads the business development and sales initiatives for Tyfone, bringing over 22 years of technology, software, and financial services experience to the firm.  Throughout his career, Mike’s primary focus has been electronic payment processing.  Before joining Tyfone, Mike was President & CEO of Everlink Payment Services, a Canadian transaction switching company, where he was responsible for the strategic and business management of the company.  His previous experience includes serving as Senior Vice President & Division Executive of the Electronic Payments Division at eFunds. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of the software, processing, and government businesses. His other positions include Vice President & General Manager EFT Processing for the NYCE Corporation, Regional Manager, Electronic Commerce Division at Electronic Data Systems, and Vice President of Marketing for the Florida Credit Union League Service Group. Mike has a BS degree in finance from Florida State University in Tallahassee.

  

Alan Fross, The PELORUS Group

Alan Fross has over 30 years of experience in the information management marketplace.

  

As President of The PELORUS Group, Mr. Fross heads one of the fastest growing communications research and management consulting firms in the United States.  The firm provides both market research studies and custom consulting projects to the industry’s leading financial concerns and service providers worldwide.

  

Mr. Fross is regarded as one of the leading analysts in the industry.  His expertise in the various information services markets is widely recognized.  His market assessments and opinions are often quoted in trade and business publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CIO, and Communications Solutions.  In addition, Mr. Fross has published numerous articles in leading industry journals such as Communications News, Business Communications Review, and Intele-CardNews, and has spoken at national telecommunications conferences.

  

Prior to founding The PELORUS Group, Inc., Mr. Fross was Vice President of The Eastern Management Group, where he was responsible for coordinating the telecommunications research and consulting engagements for the company.  In addition, Mr. Fross has held several marketing positions with New Jersey Bell.

  

Mr. Fross received his bachelors degree in marketing from the University of Dayton and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Rutgers University.

  

Reetika Grewal, Clairmail

Director of Product Marketing

  

Reetika Grewal is responsible for ClairMail’s product strategy with particular focus on mobile payments.  Most recently Reetika was a Vice President at Wells Fargo in their Online Payments Product Group.  Reetika has also held positions at Sapient, Infosys and Comerica Bank.

  

Reetika holds a master in business administration from Washington University in St Louis and an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Reetika is fluent in French.

  

Vance Hodnett, The PELORUS Group

Vice President of Research – Financial Services 

  

Vance Hodnett is the Vice President of Research – Financial Services with The PELORUS Group.  With over 30 years of experience in finance, information technologies and telecommunications, Mr. Hodnett is responsible for the company’s consulting practice and research offerings in the Stored Value, Alternative Payments and Financial Services.  His skill set includes business planning, financial analysis, network design and project management. 

  

Prior to joining The PELORUS Group, Mr. Hodnett provided financial consulting and cost analysis to clients of Ernst and Young regarding benefit and retirement plans.  In this capacity, Mr. Hodnett utilized financial models to forecast expected payouts and returns for various offers.  Before then, Mr. Hodnett was with AT&T where he held positions in finance, regulatory and government affairs, investor relations and network management, performance and engineering. 

  

Mr. Hodnett received his MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

  

Gregory Holmes, Obopay 

President

  

Gregory is responsible for all of the U.S.-based operations of Obopay, Inc.  He oversees the company’s product development, technology, marketing, partner management, business development, risk control, operations and customer service functions.

  

Gregory has worked in the payments industry for 20 years.  Before joining Obopay, he served as Senior Vice President of First Data Corporation where he headed the Premier National Merchant Services team, overseeing sales, relationship management, customer service and product delivery for the company’s largest customers in strategic industries.  Prior to that position, Gregory served in various management roles at First Data Merchant Services and in business development, partnership, and product management roles at First Data alliance Chase Merchant Services.

  

Before joining First Data in 1999, Gregory spent 10 years with card association Visa U.S.A. He was at the forefront of Visa’s efforts in the 1990s to help open new markets, such as health care and recurring payment industries, to electronic payments. Before joining Visa, Gregory was a news reporter and also spent several years working for public relations agencies in both San Francisco and London.

  

A native of San Francisco, Gregory received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from San Francisco State University.

  

  

Kenneth Kruszka, m-Via

Vice President Development

  

Ken is responsible for driving m-Via's technology vision and leading the engineering organization in the development of industry-leading products and services. Most recently, Ken served as CEO of mFS, a pioneer in mobile financial services. Before that, as CTO of SVC Financial Services, Ken provided strategic technical leadership and managed the development of the company's groundbreaking mobile remittance solution.

  

In addition to Ken's success in leading innovative technology-based financial services initiatives at mFS, SVC Financial Services, Mellon Capital Management, and Wells Fargo, Ken also brings to his role extensive experience in the development and marketing of software and solutions for the telecommunications, energy, and automotive industries, as well as for the US Department of Defense, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and NASA.

  

Ken holds a BS with distinction in Computer Science from Cornell University, an MS in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of San Francisco.

  

  

Meyer Malka, CEO, BlingNation

Co-CEO

  

Meyer Malka is based in Palo Alto, California.  He is Co-CEO of BlingNation and a founding partner of MECK, Ltd, a private investment firm based in Santiago, Chile.  Malka participated in the development of the Internet financial services portal Patagon by founding and developing its Venezuelan branch.  After Patagon established a presence in Latin America, the United States, and Europe, it was sold to Banco Santander, where he was the interim CEO of the Spaniard Banco Openbank (Santander’s phone and online banking).  Malka was a founding member of Classified Media Group (Tucarro.com, Tuinmueble), an online classified ads business focused on Venezuela, Colombia and Central America.  Classified Media Group emerged as a leader in each of its markets and was sold to EBay’s partner in Latin America; MercadoLibre (NASDAQ: MELI).  In 2002 Malka along with his partners in MECK, Ltd.  founded Banco Lemon, a retail bank for the underbanked in Brazil which they still own.  Today Banco Lemon is Brazil's largest microfinance institution in Brazil.  Meyer also founded Wendy’s Hamburger Franchise for Venezuela, and the broker dealer Heptagon Financial Group.  He is a board member of Climax magazine and Wenco Servicios de Comida Rapida (Wendy’s franchisee).  Meyer is an Economist from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, Caracas - Venezuela.

  

  

Rebecca Mann Western Union

Director, Strategic Alliances

  

In her role as Director of Strategic Alliances for Western Union Mobile, Rebecca Mann is responsible for enrolling mobile phone operators in Western Union’s recently announced mobile money transfer service, which will enable consumers in select countries to send and receive money transfers with a cell phone.

  

Mann also manages relationships with banks and mobile wallet providers for the project. She is based in Englewood, Colo., at Western Union’s global headquarters.

  

Prior to her role with the mobile money transfer team, Mann has held various positions at Western Union, including project management for a global point-of-sale strategy and web analytics for westernunion.com.

  

Mann holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management and Spanish from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., and a master’s of Applied Science in Technology Management from the University of Denver.

  

  

Barry McCarthy, First Data Mobile Solutions

President

  

Barry leads the newly formed Mobile Commerce Solutions business unit of First Data, an $8 billion corporation that processes payments on behalf of merchants and financial institutions globally.  The company processes over $2 trillion in transaction volume annually, serves 5 million merchants, and more than 1000 financial institutions globally. As leader of this new business unit, Barry and his team work closely with a variety of industry partners from the largest wireless carriers to young start-ups, technology providers and terminal manufacturers.

  

Previously, Barry led Global Product and Business Development for First Data, and earlier led product development for the Commercial Services business unit. In these roles, Barry managed all First Data products globally.  He also had responsibility for key partnerships including Microsoft and HP.  During his tenure, the company experienced a 10 fold increase in product innovation revenue.

  

Prior to joining First Data, Barry was vice president and general manager of VeriSign’s Internet Payments & Risk Management business unit, a NASDAQ 100 technology company. Barry led the business to its first-ever sustained profitability reversing three consecutive annual losses, and nearly doubling its size. 

  

Before VeriSign, Barry co-founded and later sold MagnaCash, a Silicon Valley micro-payments company. MagnaCash counted Gannett Media, Blockbuster and Ziff-Davis as major clients.  Through subsequent transactions, the company is now owned by Digital River (NASDAQ:  DRV).

  

Previously serving Wells Fargo (NYSE:  WFC) as vice president and general manager of the ATM business, Barry had P&L responsibility for $110 billion in annual transaction volume and 14 million active ATM cards. While at Wells, Barry launched the first ATM full-motion video advertising and 4 color receipt advertising, and expanded US Postage stamp sales and discount ticketing across the network.

  

Barry started his career at Procter and Gamble (NYSE:  PG) where he spent 12 years in roles of increasing responsibility, first in sales and sales management, and later in customer marketing and brand management.  During his tenure at P&G, Barry was responsible for dozens of new product introductions.  In his final role, Barry had customer marketing responsibility for the $500M deodorant business (Secret, Sure and Old Spice).

  

Barry earned a master of business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois – Urbana.

  

  

Jeff McLaughlin, Monitise America

Executive Vice President

  

Jeff McLaughlin is the EVP of Mobile Strategy for Monitise Americas.  Upon joining the company in January 2008, he’s been responsible for driving adoption among wireless carriers working with carriers and handset manufacturers to accelerate mobile banking use in US, Canada and Mexico.

  

Jeff has worked in wireless for over 13 years, spanning various aspects of the industry including carrier, vendor, systems integrator and content provider.  His experience has included management positions at McCaw Cellular/AT&T Wireless, bcgi (prepaid services), GetConnected (online platform provider), mFoundry (mobile banking and content platform) and Refresh Mobile (content delivery) where he was part of the US launch team for the UK-based mobile content company.

  

Jeff is the author of Consumer’s Guide to Cell Phones & Wireless Service Plans and also has published pieces in Telecom Business and Wireless Week.  Additionally, he has spoken as the Consumer Electronic Show and the Prepaid Wireless Conference.

  

Jeff lives in suburban Pittsburgh with his wife Kelly and two young daughters and has two Olympic medals and a World Championship in the sport of rowing.

  

Oscar Munoz, Uni-Mas

President

  

At 37 years of age, Mr. Muñoz has been in The Electronic Payments Industry for over 17 years.  His qualifications include the creation of his first Independent Sales Organization for Merchant Services, Electronic Bankcard Services, Inc. (E.B.S.) by the age of 20, right after a short tour as an AW-3/A-2 within the US-NAVY, while completing a Bachelor in Business Administration with Majors in Accounting and International Business from the Florida International University. He went on to create the first non-bank company of its kind within the Region of Puerto Rico, United Merchant Services, Inc. (U.M.S.) which, gave him firsthand knowledge of the intricacies of electronic payment acquiring and issuing outside the U.S. borders within the LAC Region.  He completed his Masters in Business Administration as an Accounting Major with top scholastic honors (4.0 GPA), and performed his Graduate Studies on The Electronic Payments Acceptance (Acquiring) Industry, with depth into the region of Puerto Rico.  Such study became the base for the only Non-Bank ISO and Member Service Provider within Puerto Rico, Worldwide Payment Services, Inc. which he founded by January 1997.  WPS comprehensive suite of services was created by leveraging on Mr. Muñoz end-to-end personal industry experience, and was specifically built around the “one-stop” concept for all electronic payment processing needs, by offering a complete line of end-to-end credit, debit, gift and loyalty, and check acceptance solutions for merchants of all sizes and industry types (www.worldwidepaymentservices.net).

He is also an active member of the Electronic Transaction Association (ETA) and, he is considered by many, as the reason why merchants within the LAC region of Puerto Rico are paying 50% less in their electronic payment acceptance needs today.

  

His unique experience in previous technological advances within the US regarding Smart Cards, Biometrics, as well as Contactless payment acceptance, brings unique insights on Mobile Payments and how a company can deliver on the opportunity today.

  

Vijai Shankar, VeriSign

Senior Product Marketing Manager, Consumer Authentication

  

Vijai Shankar is Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Consumer Authentication at VeriSign, Inc.  His primary responsibility is to lead the marketing strategy, including messaging, positioning and marketing planning for VeriSign’s Identity Protection Services, including the Authentication Service, the Fraud Detection Service and growing the VIP Network members.

  

Prior to joining VeriSign, Inc. in Jan 2008, Vijai lead the Product Marketing team for voice applications and solutions at Genesys, an Alcatel-Lucent Company. 

  

Vijai has a B.S. in Electronics Engineering from India and an MBA in Marketing from Santa Clara University.

  

 Jon Squire, mFoundry

Vice President of Payments

  

Jon brings more than 15 years of business development and financial services experience to mFoundry. He has brokered hundreds of partnerships and run lines of business for companies such as E*TRADE, mPower (Morningstar), and Bankers Trust.

  

Most recently, Jon was a consultant for a top three U.S. bank helping drive their strategy and business development within the mobile payments and wireless initiatives space.  As such, he has worked extensively in mobile technologies, including NFC.  As VP of Payments, Jon will direct partnerships that enhance mFoundry's mobile payments offering.  Jon will play a key role in continuing mFoundry's leadership in mobile financial services.

  

T. Jack Williams, eCommlink 

President

  

Currently, Mr. Williams is President, eCommLink and Cubis Financial Services, located in Las Vegas.  In his roll, he is responsible for the total operation of the prepaid debit card core processing for bank clients who issue, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover branded cards.  Cubis is leading provider of prepaid debit card programs to financial institutions and other entities for programs such as payroll, travel, teen, general spend, and traditional gift cards.

  

Prior to this roll, Williams was Senior Vice President for Tier Technologies, responsible for all Strategic Programs for the company.  In this role, he is responsible for the creation and ongoing utilization of the prepaid Visa debit card efforts; to migrate payments currently paid via paper check to a Visa prepaid debit card program.  Included in this effort are all of Tier’s state programs for which payment is made monthly to millions of child support, unemployment, and pension payments.

  

Williams has a broad range of expertise within the payments space.  One example is his work with biometrics for replacement of cards in college cafeteria and state subsidized day care programs.  Prior to Tier, he was Senior Vice President, Relationship Management for National Processing Company (NPC) in Louisville, Kentucky.  In this role, Mr. Williams was responsible for the national merchant portfolio.  He oversaw the total acquiring and processing relationships with such retailers as Target, Exxon/Mobil, and Safeway.  In all, approximately 6 billion credit card transactions were processed by NPC on behalf of Mr. Williams’ merchant portfolios.

  

Prior to NPC, Mr. Williams was one of the early employees of Stored Value Systems, (SVS) as Senior Vice President for Marketing.  He is credited with the development of numerous closed loop gift card programs for retailers such as Kmart, Kroger, Exxon, Mobil, and many more that in total at his departure in 2000 generated almost one billion cards per year.  During this tenure, he was selected as the Card Management Magazines “Debit Executive of the Year”, for his innovative work and development of gift cards.

  

Mr. Williams is credited with the creation and implementation of the first gift card program in the world during his tenure at Blockbuster Entertainment.  It is the efforts outlined above that provide him is status as a national authority on all areas relative to both closed and open loop prepaid debit cards and as a visionary in the credit/debit/prepaid debit card arena that he holds today.
